#JAVASCRIPT YOU DONT KNOW JS REDDIT HOW TO#
Some things that I fell lucky I learned from YDKJS are : The chapter on how to measure the efficiency of some code made me avoid bothering with optimizations (to be honest I still have never bothered), and I remember reading something that made understand that console gives async results sometimes and that I should not trust it. I do not think I have much time to read it again from the start and I feel it is not worth since I know most of the stuff. I do not think eloquent javascript is much worth it. Read and if you feel it lacks on something then try google + MDN and then try YDKJS. The only things I knew when I started was if loop, function etc, I did not know what an object was for example. I learned ecmascript from these books and from eloquent javascript (which has some stuff about DOM but nothing on web components, data binding etc.). You will learn nothing about web components, or DOM manipulation for example. You will learn a part of javascript from this book. I do not know if it is worth to go for 100% but maybe I will in the future, but right know I read other stuff (web components and generally native implementation of what js frameworks do, webpack etc.). So definitely that is far from newspaper read. I combined the 6 pdfs into one and used okular to mark what I have read and understood and what not. Yes I wrote the examples on the console of my browser when I thought they are confusing but for the most of the times there was no need. If you already know a programming language it should take you much less. Maybe I would spent 4 hours per day on that book on average. I think that took 3-4 months doing nothing more than that (I do not have a job). I have read around 70% of YDKJS (all the books combined).
